RecentReborn now supports Instagram location search, allowing you to find the most recent posts and reels from specific places, even though Instagram has hidden this feature from their own app.

Instagram used to be a great way to see what was happening in your neighborhood or at a specific event in real time. But lately, when you search for a location on the official app, you mostly see "Top Posts" from influencers or accounts that already have a massive following. It feels like the platform is prioritizing the "elite" while burying the posts from everyday people, small businesses, and local creators.

Finding recent content from a specific spot is simple. Here is the step-by-step process:

Start by typing a location into the search bar on RecentReborn. For example, you can type "Berlin," "Central Park," or your favorite local coffee shop.

2. Choose from the location list

You will see a list of Instagram locations that match your search. Pick the one you are looking for.

A quick note on accuracy: You might notice that sometimes the map coordinates for a location aren't exactly where they should be. This isn't an error on our part. Instagram locations are occasionally tagged with slightly off-set coordinates on the map, but the location name and the content attached to it are still what matters. Even if the pin looks a bit "off," the posts inside are the ones you're looking for.

3. Browse recent posts and reels

Once you click a location, we show you the most recent posts and reels in chronological order. No algorithms, no "for you" bias—just the latest content from that specific place.

Why searching by location matters

When Instagram removed the "Recent" tab, they didn't just break hashtags; they broke the way we connect with our physical communities.

Discover local creators and small businesses

If you’re a business owner, you can use this to see who is visiting your area and engage with them immediately. If you're a "photography hobbyist" or a "struggling artist" like the users we’ve seen on Reddit, this is how you get found by people who actually live near you.

Follow real-time events

Whether it's a local protest, a concert, or a community market, searching by location allows you to see what is happening right now. You shouldn't have to wait for an algorithm to decide that a local event is "popular" enough for you to see it.

Build authentic relationships

By finding "normal" people instead of just famous influencers, you can build real connections. You can find first-time authors at a local book signing or new musicians playing at a nearby cafe. RecentReborn is designed to help you support beginners and find the "unique and fresh" content that made social media fun in the first place.

Try it out now

The location search is live on our website. You can now jump between Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to see what's happening everywhere without the filter of a profit-driven algorithm.

I built RecentReborn because Instagram’s decision to hide recent posts made it impossible to find real people and small creators who are not already famous. My vision for 2026 is to restore the original soul of social media by giving everyone a fair chance to be discovered and supported through chronological search.
